VALLEY CITY — The NDHSAA voted to cancel all remaining spring sports seasons and winter basketball tournaments on Friday evening. The decision was unanimous.

The basketball tournaments and spring sports seasons were suspended on March 13 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 31, the board voted to extend the active suspension and continued it on April 14.

The Class A girls basketball semifinals were completed before the season was suspended, while the Class A boys basketball semifinals had not started. The Class B boys tournament was scheduled for March 19-21, but participating teams never took the court.

Earlier Friday, Gov. Doug Burgum announced that distance learning would continue in all North Dakota K-12 schools for the remainder of the academic year.
