ORCS libero Téa Boeckel signs with Minot State volleyball

After serving as a co-captain for the Our Redeemer’s volleyball team during her senior season, libero Téa Boeckel committed to continue her career at Minot State. She will reunite with former ORCS middle hitter Annie Folden — the Knights’ other co-captain.

Folden signed with the Beavers in January, while Boeckel committed earlier this week. Boeckel and Folden, self-described “pepper partners for life,” will play for head coach Dana Cordova at MSU.

“I’m very blessed and excited to learn more about the game from coach Cordova and play alongside (Folden),” Boeckel said. “She and I joked all year about playing volleyball at MSU. Now that it’s actually happening, it’s a dream come true.”

Both of Boeckel’s elder siblings attended MSU. Staying close to home played a large role in her decision.

“I never thought I would be able to play volleyball at MSU,” Boeckel said. “Now that I am, I don’t know what to think.”

Boeckel finished off her ORCS career with her strongest season. In 127 sets played, she recorded 80 aces and posted an efficient 95% serve percentage.

“I am really excited and proud to see (Boeckel) continue her volleyball career at Minot State,” ORCS head coach Kara Nunziato said. “As a coach, you want your athletes to love the game.”

She gave the Knights a boost on the defensive end, amassing 496 digs. In addition, Boeckel dished out 58 assists and received All-District and All-Region recognition in her final campaign.

As a Knight, Boeckel notched career totals of 169 aces and 892 digs.

“She is an athlete who exhibits an exemplary work ethic,” Nunziato said. “After watching her grow over the last four years, I am looking forward to seeing her impact in a new program.”

According to Nunziato, Boeckel is the 15th Knight to pursue a collegiate volleyball career and the third to play at MSU, joining Rylie Ringeon and Folden.
