St. Mary’s knocks off Majettes basketball 47-40
The Minot High School girls basketball team fell 47-40 to Bismarck St. Mary’s (9-7, 9-6 WDA) on Thursday in Minot.
The Majettes (7-9, 7-8 WDA) looked to continue their winning ways after defeating TMCHS 71-37 in conference play on Feb 4.
Both teams seemed shocked by each other’s pressure defense during the opening minutes as the score was 4-3, with 12:27 remaining in the first half.
“Just couldn’t get anything going offensively tonight,” MHS head coach Jason Schwarz said. “Played well for the most part defensively. Should win when you hold a WDA opponent under 50 points. Allie Nelson and Mariah Evenson need others to help in the scoring column.”
Majettes senior Allie Nelson achieved a double-double while leading the team in scoring with 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in defeat.
Sophomore guard Mariah Evenson almost had a double-double after finishing the game with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Maria Mann notched a double-double (14 points, 19 rebounds) for St. Mary’s.
MHS will look to get back in the win column on Monday against Bismarck Legacy.
