MSU softball splits action-packed weekend at home

The Minot State softball team stands at 6-6 after playing in another air-supported invitational inside the bubble at Herb Parker Stadium. The Beavers played four games this weekend and posted a 2-2 record.

Minnesota Crookston defeated MSU 12-0 on Saturday morning. Crookston scored five runs in the eighth inning to clinch the victory.

MSU rebounded by taking a 4-1 win over Montana State Billings on Saturday. Two MSU insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning sealed the victory.

MSU shortstop Julia Suchan went 3-for-3 in the Beavers’ first win of the weekend.

The Beavers began their next day of action bright and early. MSU earned a decisive 9-3 victory over the University of Mary.

The game started at 7:30 a.m. Karlee Coughlin took the win in the circle and went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Coughlin also knocked in two runs.

In the Beavers’ last game of the weekend, Northern State seized a 13-12 victory over the Beavers. The game needed nine innings to reach a decision.

A ninth-inning home run from NSU’s Rachel Reinke put the Wolves ahead.

Next up, MSU will host another air-supported invitational on Saturday. The Beavers will welcome Dickinson State for a 10 a.m. contest.
