MSU volleyball drops season’s final match to Southwest Minnesota State
MARSHALL, Minn. — After keeping the action competitive through the first two sets, the Minot State volleyball team fell in three frames to the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs.
The Mustangs (18-10, 12-8 NSIC) earned a 25-17, 25-18, 25-12 victory over the Beavers (3-26, 3-18 NSIC) in Saturday’s matinee.
Senior outside hitter Shelby Spuller led the Beavers with eight kills, while junior setter Mackenzie Froehlich dished out 18 assists. MSU junior libero Karli Koza put together a strong defensive effort, tallying 17 digs.
SMSU led nearly every major category, trailing MSU only in blocks (7-6). The Mustangs put down 51 kills, while the Beavers mustered just 21.
Additionally, SMSU held a 45-20 advantage in the assist column. Setter Emma Thomssen contributed a match-high 23 assists.
The Beavers’ season concluded after Saturday’s contest. MSU finished fifteenth in the final NSIC standings.
