Weather postpones Minot High sporting events

Recent rainy weather has caused Minot High School varsity teams to postpone several events.

The boys tennis match at Jamestown is postponed until Sept. 26. The girls golf Minot Invitational at the Vardon Golf Club has been postponed until a later date.

According to Minot High activities director Mitch Lunde, the meet at Vardon will likely be postponed until Sept. 20.

Magi soccer slips up against Bismarck High

BISMARCK — A soggy and smudged scoresheet told the story of a 3-0 road defeat for the Minot High School boys soccer team Thursday evening against Bismarck High.

The Magicians (3-5-1, 3-3-1 WDA) allowed three first-half goals to the WDA-leading Demons (6-1-2, 5-0-2 WDA).

“We ran into a team that is playing really good soccer right now, and we weren’t fully prepared,” MHS head coach Creighton Bachmeier said. “I thought our team had a ton of fight and were disciplined, but we weren’t good enough to maintain possession of the ball when we needed to tonight.”

Michael Matthews scored in the 5th minute, and then Joseph Botanyi stuck twice in the 32nd and 33rd minute.

Bismarck outshot Minot 24-2 (10-0 shots on target).

“We will regroup and refocus and get ready for Legacy on the road on Tuesday,” Bachmeier said.

Kickoff for that contest is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Sanford Sports Complex in Bismarck.
