MSU men’s golf holding sixth at King’s Walk Invitational

GRAND FORKS — The Minot State men’s golf team completed Day 1 at the King’s Walk Invitational on Sunday.

After round one, the Beavers currently sit in a tie for 6th place with conference rival Bemidji State University. Minot State has collectively shot a score of 14-over par or 302 total strokes.

Individually, the Beavers were led by Carson Harcourt, who shot an even-par 72 to end the first day in a tie for 12th position. Only one other Minot State player cracked the top 15, as senior Cody Reynolds finished tied for 15th with a round of 1-over 73. Other Beaver golfers Kash Kaufman, Matthew Bean, Andrew Makarchuk, and Owen Gillespie shot 78, 79, 79, and 81, respectively.

Concordia College-Moorhead and two separate teams from the University of Manitoba currently lead the team competition.

The top of the individual leaderboard is also crowded with five players tied for the top spot. Will Czeh (Bemidji State), Mason Opheim (Concordia-Moorhead), Cole Peters (Manitoba), Connor Stewart (Manitoba), and Chris Swenson (Bemidji State) all shot an impressive 3-under 69 to capture a share of the lead.

The King’s Walk Invitational will conclude play this evening in Grand Forks.
