Minotauros’ NAHL Showcase schedule released

The 2019-20 Minotauros report for training camp on August 22, and finally their schedule is complete as the North American Hockey League has released the 2019-20 NAHL Showcase schedule.

The Tauros will face Springfield, Amarillo, Johnstown and Maryland over the four-day festival to start the regular season. The Showcase takes place in Blaine, Minnesota, over four days from September 18-21. All 26 NAHL teams will attend and 24 of them will play four games while two teams, Odessa and Amarillo will play just two games plus an exhibition game against the U.S. National Team Development Program.

The Tauros have seen the Midwest Division’s Springfield twice in the past at the NAHL Showcase with wins over the Jr. Blues in 2013 and 2014. The match-up will be the season-opening game for both teams and will take place in a prime-time time slot with a 7 p.m. puck drop.

Then, the next day, the Tauros will take on the Amarillo Bulls at 1 p.m. It will be the second time the two have met at the Showcase with the Tauros taking the lone previous meeting, 6-3, on Day 3 of the 2015 Showcase.

The Tauros final two games at the Showcase will be against teams they’ve never faced before. On Thursday at 3:30 p.m., the Tauros will face the Johnstown Tomahawks. Then, on the final day, of the Showcase the Tauros will play the Maryland Black Bears at 11:30 a.m.

The Tauros have been dominant at the NAHL Showcase of late going 12-3-1 over the last four seasons. All-time, the Tauros are 16-13-3 at the Showcase. After the Showcase, the Tauros will stay on the road with two more trips to Minnesota. First, they head to St. Cloud for the Blizzard’s first-ever home game in their new city and then to Cloquet to take on the Minnesota Wilderness.

The Tauros will finally return home to the Maysa Arena on October 11 for their home opener against the Aberdeen Wings.

Tauros fans do not have to wait until October 11 to see the Tauros in Minot however, there will be a free intersquad scrimmage on Thursday, August 29, at 7 p.m. Then, on September 6 and September 7, the Tauros will host the Estevan Bruins and St. Cloud Blizzard at the Maysa Arena in a pair of preseason tune-ups, both at 7:35 p.m.

The Tauros will close the preseason with the War in Watford City, a pair of games against the Bismarck Bobcats at the Rough Rider Center in Watford City.
