Championship Night set for tonight at Nodak Speedway

Track championships are up for grabs tonight at Nodak Speedway.

If the weather cooperates, Championship Night will take place at 7 p.m. this evening. All five IMCA weekly classes — Modifieds, Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars and Sport Compacts — will be in attendance.

The season points leaders heading into the final race include Tom Berry Jr. (Modifieds), Erik Laudenschlager (Sport Mods), Brad King (Hobby Stocks), Mike Hagen (Stock Cars) and Christopher Zenz (Sport Compacts).

The closest competition is in the Hobby Stocks. King leads former track champion Andrew Bertsch by only two points. Robby Rosselli is still in the mix for the Sport Mods title, trailing by five points after failing to finish last week’s race.

The other three track titles seem pretty secure, barring any catastrophes. The point standings can be found on page C2.

Last year’s Championship Night was rained out. There is a chance that could happen again this year with thunderstorms in the forecast.

Track updates are posted on the Nodak Speedway Facebook page.

Nonetheless, there is still one more weekend of racing after Championship Night. Nodak Speedway will host Motor Magic events on Aug. 30 through Sept. 1, which will include an All-Star Race and the return of the Harvest 100.
