Local schools wrap up Day 1 of Class B girls state golf meet

CARRINGTON – Leaders emerged at the Cross Roads Golf Course on Tuesday, as Day 1 of the Class B girls state golf meet came to a close.

Leading the way from the local teams is Des Lacs-Burlington, who is in 12th place with a score of 126. Also in the mix is Velva, who sits in 16th place with a team score of 145. Atop the overall standings is Kindred (61) followed by Linton/HMB (64) and Bowman County (70).

Individually, Emily St. Aubin of South Border has a convincing lead. The sophomore shot an impressive 76 (+4) in the first round and has a comfortable edge over the rest of the pack. Avery Bartels (Kindred), Asha Valliere (Tioga) and Katie Keator (Heart River) are all tied for second with a score of 82 (+10).

Locally, DLB eight-grader Lauryn Keller is in 30th place with a score of 93 (+21). Eight-grade teammate Kali Nett sits in 58th place after shooting a 99 (+27).

The top performer for Rugby is Alyson Mundahl in 35th place with a 94 (+22), while fellow junior Panther Morgan LaRocque is at the 46th spot with a 96 (+24).

Velva’s leader through Day 1 is sophomore Ashlyn Degele in 41st place with a 95 (+23), and senior Aggie Hope Brewer is in 62nd place after posting a 100 (+28).

Day 2 of the tournament is scheduled to begin today at 9 a.m.
