Hendrickson wins ORCS Invite, claims spot at state

In his home invite, the Our Redeemer’s youngster delivered.

Freshman Zachary Hendrickson didn’t let his youth stop him from putting together a solid winning round of four-over par Monday afternoon at the Vardon Golf Club in Minot.

The Class B regional meet, which was also an individual qualifier for the upcoming state tournament, advanced four golfers to the final rounds of the season on May 28-29 at the Jamestown County Club.

Alongside medalist Hendrickson (76), Bottineau’s Jaden McCloud (78), Bishop Ryan’s Hunter Johnson (79) and Bottineau’s Max Palmer (79) each secured spots at the state tournament.

Northern Lights won the team portion of the ORCS Invite with a score of 338, followed by Bottineau (343), Harvey/Wells County (370), Our Redeemer’s (393) and Velva (399) rounding out the top five.

There will be another individual qualifier meet on May 16 at the Harvey Golf Club and a Region 4 team qualifier meet will be held on May 20 in Harvey as well.

begins regional play

MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Junior Alexandra Demko opened play Monday at the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Central Regional at Muskogee Country Club in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Demko shot a 13-over par to finish tied for 60th overall after the first round of the three-round event.

All 66 participants are competing in a 54-hole competition with the top four teams along with the top four individuals not with a team from each super regional advancing to the championships.

The championships will be held May 14-18 at PGA National Resort and Spa in West Palm Beach, Fla.
