Bottineau’s David Hoff coaches U.S. National Sled Hockey team to world championship
OSTRAVA, Czech Republic – U.S. National Sled Hockey head coach David Hoff, of Bottineau, led his team to gold on Saturday.
The nation’s representative earned a 3-2 overtime win over Canada at the 2019 Para Ice Hockey World Championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Brody Royal delivered the final goal just over five minutes into overtime to secure the title.
Hoff is a Minot State graduate and current Bottineau High School athletic director, math teacher and boys hockey head coach. He joined the U.S. National Sled Hockey coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2016 and was named the head coach in July of 2018.
The win marks the United States’ eight consecutive medal in the world championship. In total, Team USA has earned four gold medals (2019, 2015, 2012, 2009), three silver medals (2017, 2013, 2004) and one bronze medal (2008).
