Minot State wrestling topped by Mankato
MANKATO, Minn — Nathan Baca and Jordan Will post victories, but Minot State wrestling lost to Minnesota State Mankato on Saturday, 28-9, in an Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match at the Taylor Center.
Mankato opened the match with three decision wins and a technical fall to start, 14-0. Nathan Baca puts Minot on the board with a pinfall victory at 2:23 against Logan Saltou. Mankato won the next three matches by decision to increase their lead to 25-6. Will recorded his second career NSIC win with a 10-5 decision over Max Villnow at heavyweight to trim the lead to 25-9.
Mankato won the final match by a close 4-3 decision
Minot State dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the NSIC with the loss.
The Beavers go on the road to Montana State University-Northern on Jan. 10 before returning to action on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 3pm in the Minot State Dome for a dual against Minnesota State Moorhead and the Tyler Plummer Classic in Dickinson.
