Majettes suffer road loss to Devils Lake, 4-2

DEVILS Lake — After entering the second period tied at one goal apiece with Devils Lake on Friday, the Minot High girls hockey team surrendered three goals in the second period en route to a 4-2 road loss.

The Firebirds (1-2) struck first in the opening period. Kaylie Klemetsrud found the back of the net in the seventh minute, giving her team a 1-0 lead. But the Majettes (1-2) got the last laugh in the 13th minute when junior forward Averi Bradley found some space and scored off an assist from junior forward Kaya Shaw to make it even.

Things went downhill for Minot High in the second period, though, as Devils Lake went on a scoring spree. The first two goals came off the stick of Elle Black in the seventh and eight minute, and the third came courtesy of Abbey Reule three minutes later.

Majette junior Carson Abrahamson managed to make the score 4-2 in the third period with an unassisted goal, but Minot High couldn’t chip away at the lead any more as it suffered its second loss of the season.

Next up for the Majettes is a road game against Grand Forks Central today at 2 p.m.
