MSU men’s golf takes second at Cog Hill

LEMONT, Ill. — The Minot State men’s golf team played 36 holes Tuesday on the Dubsdread Course at Cog Hill to complete the Flyer Intercollegiate Invitational.

Minot State held firm and finished where they started the day with a second place.

The Beavers posted rounds of 295 and 297 for a three-round total of 893. Texas Wesleyan won the tournament with a team score of 886.

“I think we have established ourselves as one of the favorites in the NSIC,” MSU head coach Randy Westby said in a press release. “Good event for all of the guys.”

Matthew Bean led the Beavers with rounds of 76-72-78 to finish seventh overall. Three other Beavers also finished inside the Top 20: Matthew Kreutz (74-75-76, 12th), Carson Harcourt (74-75-77, 14th) and Leighton Bearchell (80-73-73, 14th).

Minot native Cody Reynolds rounded out MSU’s squad with a 77-83-75 for 52nd overall.

The Beavers wrap up the fall season at the Dickinson State Fall Invitational on Sunday and Monday at Bully Pulpit.
