Minot High ends season with 47-28 win over Grand Forks Red River

The Minot High football team ended its season on a positive note, besting Grand Forks Red River on the road, 47-28.

The Magi came out on top in the high-scoring affair thanks to a stellar performance by Peyton Philion. The junior running back ran all over the Roughriders, totaling six touchdowns and 216 yards in the win.

Philion dominated from the start, scoring four touchdowns and rushing for 185 in the first half alone. The impressive showing was highlighted by a 65-yard dash into the end zone to close out the second quarter as the Magi held a 28-14 lead.

The Roughriders’ defense struggled to contain the explosive running back in the second half as well as Philion went on to record another two touchdowns. Red River’s offense tried to keep its team in the game, but the Magi’s potent offense proved to be too much as Minot High claimed the 47-28 win.

The victory marks the end of the Magi’s season as the team finishes with a two-game winning streak and a record of 4-5 (2-4 WDA Region).
