MHS football eliminated from the playoffs after loss to Mandan

For the first time since 1996, the Minot High School football team isn’t going to the playoffs.

The Magicians lost on the road to Mandan Friday, 42-28, in a game that was knotted up at 28 entering the fourth quarter. The Braves did what the Magi couldn’t, finding the end zone twice in the final quarter.

The stakes were high for both teams entering the match up. Mandan held the fourth and final spot in the West Region playoffs, and the Magi had a golden opportunity to snatch it away with a win.

Minot High’s loss is the final nail in the coffin, as the Magi are no longer in the running to make the playoffs.

With just two games left on the season, the Magi are looking to finish strong for the sake of pride. Minot High hopes to snap its three-game losing streak when it hosts Dickinson on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.
