Lewis picks up two weekly awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Minot State women’s soccer player Sofia Lewis has been named the United Soccer Coaches Division II Player of the Week the organization announced on Tuesday.

Lewis, who was also named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week, earned the honor after scoring three goals and handing out three assists in Minot State victories over Black Hills State and Oklahoma Baptist.

Lewis, a Minot native, opened the season by scoring two goals and assisting on another Beaver goal as Minot State defeated Black Hills State 6-0. On Saturday, she had a goal and two assists as the Beavers topped Oklahoma Baptist 3-0. Additionally, Lewis scored the game-winning goal in each match.

Minot State returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 8) when it hosts Northwest Nazarene at Herb Parker Stadium.
