Offense goes quiet for Sabre Dogs, splits with Pierre
The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs scored first, but ended up dropping Game 2, 13-2, against the Pierre Trappers to split the two-game series.
EJ Ranel’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning gave Souris Valley an early lead, but Pierre answered with nine runs in the top of the second to take the lead for good.
Chauncey Callier led off the bottom of the second with a solo home run, but that would prove to be the last run of the evening for the Sabre Dogs.
Souris Valley starter Marcelo Terrazas was relieved in the third inning by DJ Lewis, who pitched five innings and struck out three batters.
Hunter Holland made his pitching debut in the eighth inning and finished the game for the Sabre Dogs, surrendering two runs.
Souris Valley falls to 34-20 on the season and hold a 4.5-game lead on the Badlands Big Sticks in the Lewis Division.
The Sabre Dogs head on the road for six games before returning to Corbett Field next Thursday.
