MSU women’s golf finishes fifth at MJGA Invite

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Katherine McGlenen shot a one-over par 73 on day two of the 4th Annual Minot Junior Golf Association Collegiate Invitational on Saturday at the Aliante Golf Course.

McGlenen jumped up 16 spots in the individual standings to finish tied for fifth overall. She shot an opening-round 85, but bounced back with a 73 on the par-72, 6,026-yard course at Aliante Golf Course.

Miriam Dumes, who led the Beavers with an opening-round 83, improved two strokes on day two with an 81 and finished tied for 13th overall. Alexandra Demko also finished in the top 20 as she carded rounds of 83-83 to finish tied for 18th in the standings.

Kira Dereniwsky and Kaitlyn Hill rounded out the Beaver scoring five. Dereniwsky shot rounds of 84-90 to finish tied for 33rd, while Hill posted rounds of 95-102 to finish in a tie for 55th overall.

Makensy Arlien, Jessica Simants and Lindsey Duben competed individually for Minot State. Arlien had rounds of 91-88 to finish tied for 39th, Simants shot 95-88 and finished 45th and Duben carded rounds of 119-100 to place in a tie for 62nd overall.

Led by McGlenen, Minot State finished fifth in the team standings with a score of 661. Rocky Mountain won the team title with a score of 647, while Minnesota State was second with a team score of 649.

Ashley Bixby of Southwest Minnesota State won medalist honors with rounds of 79-74 and a two-day total of 153.
