Kreutz, Bean lead MSU men’s golf to third-place finish

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Matthew Kreutz and Matthew Bean each tied for ninth place overall leading Minot State to a third-place finish at the 4th Annual Minot Junior Golf Association Collegiate Invitational on Saturday at Aliante Golf Club.

Kreutz finished with an even-par 72 over his final 18 holes to post a two-day total of 226. Bean shot a 76 on his final round and also had a two-day total of 226.

Michael Schmitz of Winona State captured medalist honors by shooting 73-68-71 to finish with a total of 212.

Cody Reynolds finished in the top 20 overall as he posted rounds of 76-76-79 to finish tied for 17th with a score of 231.

Carson Harcourt and Leighton Bearchell rounded out the Beavers scoring group. Harcourt was 29th overall with a score of 240, while Bearchell was 36th overall with a total of 256.

Aaron Ogrodnick, Sean Semmens and Garrett Kristjanson competed individually for the Beavers. Ogrodnick was tied for 15th with a 230, Semmens placed 32nd overall with a score of 245 and Kristjanson shot a 263 and was 39th overall.

“Solid play in the tournament by Kreutz, Bean, Ogrodnick and Reynolds,” said Minot State head coach Randy Westby. “We just need to get better every day leading up to the conference tournament.”

Winona State won the team title with a score of 877, while Rocky Mountain was second with a total of 895.
