Bean, Kreutz lead Beavers golf team

LAS VEGAS, Nev. –Matthew Bean and Matthew Kreutz each finished in the top 10 leading the Minot State men’s golf team at the Winona State Invitational on Tuesday at Stallion Mountain Golf Club.

Bean followed his opening round 69 with a three-over par 75 to finish with an even-par score of 144 over the 36 holes of play and finished fourth in the medalist standings. Kreutz shot rounds of 71-76 to finish with a score of 147 and was tied for 10th overall.

Minot State placed eighth in the team standings with a score of 611, while Rocky Mountain won the team title with a two-day total of 578. Winona State was second followed by Missouri Western State, West Alabama and the Winona State B team.

Cody Reynolds knocked four strokes off of his opening round as he shot a second-round 77 to finish tied for 47th overall with a total of 158. Carson Harcourt posted rounds of 79-85 to finish with a score of 164, which was good for 59th overall.

Leighton Bearchell led the Beavers who competed individually as he posted rounds of 78-79 and finished tied for 42 overall. Sean Semmens was 53rd with scores of 78-82 and Garrett Kristjanson had rounds of 86 and 84 and was 68th in the standings.

Michael Tait of Rocky Mountain was the medalist for the tournament after shooting 65-69, while Patrick McCarthy of Missouri Western State and Alec Riley of West Alabama tied for second with a score of 143.

Beavers Demko, McGlenen finish

top ten for

women’s golf team

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Alexandra Demko finished fourth and Katherine McGlenen finished ninth leading the Minot State women’s golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Winona State Invitational on Tuesday at the Stallion Mountain Golf Course.

Demko followed her opening-round 76 with a 78 to finish with a two-day total of 154 to place fourth in the medalist standings. Ye Eun Jin of West Alabama shot a 141 to capture medalist honors, while Alici Fajardo-Monzon of West Alabama had a score of 152 and Karen Valcarce of Westminster shot 153.

McGlenen recorded her second straight top-10 finish as she shot rounds of 82-78 to finish tied for ninth with a score of 160.

Kira Dereniwsky had rounds of 80 and 83 to finish with a two-round total of 163, which was good for 17th place in the standings.

Kaitlyn Hill and Miriam Dumes rounded out the Minot State scoring contingent as Hill had rounds of 86-87 to finish tied for 31st and Dumes shot 92-84 to place 34th overall.

Makensy Arlien was the top finisher for the Beavers who competed individually. Arlien had rounds of 79-85 to finish 20th overall. Jessica Simants shot 85-85 and was 28th overall and Lindsey Duben posted rounds of 104-87 to finish in a tie for 42nd overall.

West Alabama won the team title with a two-day total of 614, while Montana State-Billings was second with a score of 633. Winona State was third with a 644, while Minot State finished fourth with a 647 total.
