Magi wrestling takes seventh, two runner-ups at Bismarck Rotary

BISMARCK — The Minot High School wrestling team took seventh place out of 32 teams at the two-day Bismarck Rotary.

The Magicians entered Saturday’s competition with two wrestlers competiting for championships: Brody Armstrong (132 pounds) and Hunter Swartwout (220 pounds).

Both lost and had to settle for second-place finishes. Armstrong was defeated by Rapid City (S.D.) Stevens’ Spencer Stockman, 5-1, and Swartwout was edged by Bismarck High’s Chase Dockter, 7-3.

Rapid City Stevens won the event with 211.5 points, followed by Bismarck High (102.5) and Pierre (S.D.) with 186 points.

Other Magi placer winners were Kelby Armstrong (third, 106 pounds), Trevon McClanahan (fifth, 138), Elijah Huff (fifth, 285), Corey Hooker (sixth, 120), Wyatt Willenbring (sixth, 220) and Samuel Goodman (seventh, 113).

Minot is back in action Thursday with a home dual against Bismarck High at 7 p.m.
