Wings soar over Tauros

The Minot Minotauros lost 5-2 Friday against the Aberdeen Wings at Maysa Arena.

In the first period, on the power play, the Wings were able to put the puck in the net at 5:42. The goal was scored by Nic Sicoly and assisted by Andrew Sinard and Pitter. Pitters was then called for a minor boarding penalty at 6:04, giving the Minotauros a power play they couldn’t turn into a goal.

The first period closed with Aberdeen leading 1-0 in scoring and 8-6 shots on goal.

2:06 into the third, Aberdeen earned their third penalty, a double minor high sticking call on Nathan Burke, giving Minot a power play they couldn’t score on. The Wings earned another penalty at 8:55, minor interference on Logan Britt, that Minot was able to turn into a goal with five seconds left in the power play. The goal was scored by Colby Enns.

Aberdeen answered with a goal off of a power play, with Lincoln Erne in the box for minor slashing. Both Minot and Aberdeen went on to score goals in the second, John Sladic at 12:16 for the Wings and Connor McGinnis at 17:27 for the Tauros.

The second period ended in a tied game at 2-2, with the Minotauros leading shots on goal 13-5, going into the third.

The third period started with a goal by Aberdeen at 3:44 by Riley Murphy. By the end of the third, the Wings were able to score two more goals, one by Burke at 18:29 and the other by Trey Bagwell at 19:34. Minot missed two more power play opportunities in the final period.

The Minot Minotauros will be back in action today against the Aberdeen Wings at 7:35 p.m. at Maysa Arena.
