MSU soccer edges UMD 1-0
The Minot State women’s soccer team defeated the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs 1-0 on Friday night at Herb Parker Stadium.
The win pushes the Beavers to 6-4-1 (5-3 NSIC) on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 7-3-1 (4-3-1).
Freshman Sofia Lewis broke the scoreless tie in the 44th minute, scoring her team-leading seventh goal of the season. Lewis scored on a cross from Haley Berryman on the right side that deflected off the goalie.
Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Rafferty recorded her seventh shutout of the season while also notching six saves in the victory.
Minnesota Duluth finished with a 13-11 advantage in shots over the Beavers while Minot State held a 6-2 lead in corner kicks.
Yellow cards were given to Minot State’s Haley Berryman in the 42nd minute and Minnesota Duluth’s Emily Fleissner in the 55th minute.
The Beavers return to the pitch on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m., as they travel to St. Cloud, Minn. to face St. Cloud State. Links to live stats and video are available on msubeavers.com.
