Peter Schieferdecker, Minot
Adding to Mr. Reuer's recent letter concerning proper flag etiquette, I want to make you aware of the most frequent, blatant, offensive and obvious yet mostly ignored violation wearing facsimiles of the flag on garments such as caps, ties, jackets, even pants.
Flag etiquette, under "Important Don'ts" states:..."never use the U.S. flag as wearing apparel, bedding or drapery, festoones, drawn back, nor up, in folds." Only discrete patches should be used on garments. It is quite appalling to see our flag used as patriotic diaper, covering oversized posteriors, often during festivities such as parades and holidays.
