"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now." Matt. 6:33 (TM)
God is speaking; our call is to pay attention. Sometimes God thunders and at other times he speaks in a still small voice. Whatever the method God chooses, our need is to give our attention to what God is doing right now. This is not simply a matter of obedience, God longs for us to have fellowship with him. God is mindful of us and longs to reveal himself to us. (See Psalm 8) "Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom and the pain of it no less than the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace." (Frederick Buechner)
In all the moments of our lives God is present. The Scripture declares God to be the Creator. God was and still is Creator therefore all things can be made new at every moment. God longs to hover over our lives bringing order and beauty to our chaos. He is calling us to the cool of the garden and longs to restore our soul (see Genesis 1 and Psalm 23). The Holy Spirit is calling us to give our full attention, to touch, taste and smell our way into the holy hidden heart of God.
Rev. James Shackelford
God is calling us to faithfulness, not faithfulness of doing but of being. "Spirituality consists not in becoming more and more responsible in the fulfillment of duty, but in becoming more and more faithful in a love relationship, not so much a question of running up a steep hill as it is a letting go, falling backward in trust, believing that we will be caught up in loving protective arms."
Be still, listen to your life, lean into the fathomless mystery of Christ. Christ in us is the hope of glory.

God, we long for your company. We long to dwell with you and to find ourselves in the center of your affection. You are the God who loves us and is mindful of us. Help us to lean into your grace and find your rest and peace this day. We welcome you to hover over our lives today bringing order and peace thereby lessoning the chaos of the world. Amen.
