FARGO (AP) - Two men stabbed during a dispute at a Fargo bar late last year say the sentence handed down to their attacker isn't adequate.
The Forum reports that 38-year-old Jason Pederson initially had been charged with attempted murder after the Dec. 22 incident at Speck's Bar but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated assault and was sentenced to five years in prison.
Victims Jason Jensen and Stephan Fletcher protested in court, saying the five-year term isn't long enough.
Prosecutor Reid Brady said he doesn't want to belittle the injuries of the men who were stabbed but that he considers the plea agreement a "decent resolution." He said there is always a risk at trial, such as memory problems of some witnesses who had been drinking on Dec. 22.
