Alyce Johnson, 74, Minot, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Alyce Elaine Gallaher was born May 27, 1938, the daughter of Wendell and Alvina (Hermanson) Gallaher, in Minot. She was raised and educated in Minot. Her mother, Alvina, passed away when Alyce was 5 years old. Her father then married Luella Fedje and together they raised her. She graduated from Minot High School in 1956.
Alyce married Gerald W. Filler June 28, 1957, in Minot. They made their home in Minot. From this union, a son, Steve, was born. They were later divorced.
She later attended Minot State College and earned a degree in addiction counseling. She began a very rewarding career. She was employed at St. Joseph Hospital in Dickinson, and at Recovery House and the State Penitentiary in Bismarck.
Alyce married Donald Johnson Sept. 28, 1984, in Dickinson. They made their home in Dickinson and later in Bismarck. They were managers in residence of the Custer Home in Bismarck as well.
Donald passed away March 30, 1990. Following her husband's death, she moved back to Minot to be closer to her son, Steve, and his family.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. Alyce was a born again Christian and loved the Lord very much.
She enjoyed Bible study groups, taking pictures, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and watching the activities they participated in.
Surviving family includes: son, Steve (Julie) Filler, Minot; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, and Brooklyn Filler; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Patterson, Minneapolis, Minn.; stepsisters, Carol (Ron) George, Manteca, Calif., and Joanne (Ron) Harmon, Newcastle, Calif.
Alyce was preceded in death by her mother; father; stepmother; husband, Donald; stepson, Daniel Johnson; brother, Leon Gallaher; and an adopted brother, Lloyd.
Funeral: Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Saturday, one hour prior to the service, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: Are preferred to Trinity Homes c/o Fourth Floor.
