Leif C. Havig, 88, of Billings, Mont., passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
He was born Jan. 10, 1924, to Andrew and Louise (Dohlen) Havig in Rolette.
Leif attended LBI in Minneapolis, where he met the "love of his life," Carol Beck. They were married on Sept. 25, 1954, in Racine, Wis.
Leif spent his years farming as well as owning the Bible, Book and Gift Store in Rolette. They moved to Billings in 1987. In 2001, he was ordained by R.A.I.N. Throughout his life, his love for the Lord opened countless doors to minister to the hurting. He had a passion for ministering Jesus to children and really all who he came in contact with. His life exemplified a true man of God as shown through his love, kindness, gentleness, peace and the stability he provided as a patriarch. The power of the Word was made evident in his life, for which we as a family are eternally grateful.
Leif is survived by: his wife; sisters, June Ellingson, of Mesa, Ariz., and Loretta Tiegen, of Olympia, Wash.; his children, Susan (Terry) Havener, of Billings, Mark (Cynthia) Havig, of Minot, and Jeffrey (April) Havig, of Fairbanks, Alaska; his grandchildren, Erica (Dan) Owings, Heidi (Sean) McFarlane, Jacob (Jaqui) Havener, Lucas, Megan and Kaitlin Havig, Shai-An (Chris) Oak and Cody (Nicolle) Havig; and his 12 great-grandchildren; two cousins; several nieces; nephews; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; brother, Orville.
A special thank you to Dr. McClave and his staff and doctors and nursing staff at St. Vincent.
