Donald Davies, 74, of Stanley died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, in a Minot hospital. His funeral service is Saturday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Palermo. Visitation is today, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Springan Funeral Home in Stanley. Online condolences may be shared at (www.springanfuneralhome.com).
Donald Davies was the son of Erna Moldenhauer and Fred G. Davies. He was born on April 26, 1938, on a farm in Glenburn, N.D. He spent his childhood on the farm and then later worked at the stockyards in Minot.
Donnie met his wife, Bonnie Mahlum, when he was working for Allied Vans and they were married Nov. 1, 1960, in Stanley. Donnie and Bonnie had three kids, Tammy, Cameron and Bryan. When Cameron was three weeks old, the family moved to Seattle. Donnie started work at Boeing and later transferred to Hallidie Machinery. Donnie spent the next 36 years as a very valued and faithful employee at Hallidie.
In 1997, Donnie retired and he and Bonnie decided to move back to Stanley, N.D. Donnie was happy to be back. He enjoyed helping his friends out on their farms and visiting with family and friends. Two of his children and one grandchild, (Tammy and Bryan and Heather) also moved back to North Dakota. Cameron stayed in Washington state and enjoys visiting his Mom and Dad during the summer.
Donnie liked playing the slot machines and the pull tabs and was usually very lucky. Tammy and her husband, Kevin, often joined Donnie and Bonnie for a trip to New Town for a little fun! He always enjoyed joining his family for barbecues and get-togethers at his son Bryan's house in Stanley.
He was a very loving, kind and generous man, especially when it came to his children and grandchildren. They were definitely some of the most important people in his life. He valued any time he got to spend with them
