100nodak, you're right about that elephant, even though it's not three-headed like the ones leftwing sees.

Nobody addressed the elephant in the room. Canadian dams. My friends in Canada said they have 6 feet. If they flood us this tear their better not be any shushing from the all powerful Visitor Bureau.

I hope somebody kicks in here and corrects me but I think the reason Minot has always struggled as a city and hasn't ever achieved the growth it could have is because the influential people who generally are responsible for guiding and supporting a cities growth have taken more than they have given. In all major cities historical past there is a person or family of great wealth attained from the city and countryside that has given all or most back in ways that create growth. For instance... James Jerome Hill (September 16, 1838 – May 29, 1916), was a Canadian-American railroad executive. He was the chief executive officer of a family of lines headed by the Great Northern Railway, which served a substantial area of the Upper Midwest, the northern Great Plains, and Pacific Northwest. Because of the size of this region and the economic dominance exerted by the Hill lines, Hill became known during his lifetime as The Empire Builder.

What did Minot get a schoolhouse with his name on it.

Yeah typically those input meetings consist of several speakers telling the people what to think about for an hour or so then the meetings are over without any input from the citizens.

dakotagun...That goes way back to when Minot was called Little Chicago, is that little sign still standing immediately south and west of the 6th street underpass?

what is that supposed to mean? if they wouldn't have a public info session, folks would be screaming they want to know what's being done and what the risks are, and the city is keeping secrets. so they hold a session, and (a) folks chime in with sarcasm. I don't get it.
