Ward County judges need to go
Chad Lindberg, Minot
I sold a mobile home over two years ago to a couple that viewed it several times. Prior to that I had rented it for about 5 years, minor maintenance and repairs during that time. The home was in good condition, they decided to purchase and moved it to Rugby.
Two years later I get sued in small claims court claiming it was flooded and had mold. I contacted the park which documented that area was not flooded, I also had a letter from a state manufactured board member stating how well I took care of my properties and I have never been on their radar, that I understand the importance of maintenance. I had pictures of the home at time of sale, the plaintiff had pictures of mold – from where I do not know.
The judge did not even acknowledge the letters and statements I had, and when the plaintiff had a breakdown mid-case, he was totally on her side. The judge awarded them a monetary settlement – after two years of living in it and moving it to another town. I know what kind of condition it was in when sold; don’t know how they lived or what happened during move.
I paid the amount, but what is wrong with this system? Alot. We need to replace the old boys and get fresh minds that can think clearly.
