Safety concerns on Broadway

Broadway is like a cash machine. Just because it’s been going on for years doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for improvement. I’m going to use Simonson’s Station Stores as an example. I would like to see NO LEFT TURN signs going into some of the business places along Broadway.

When you fill with gas you just about have to drive on the sidewalk to get into or out of the place of business. Now cars can come from the north or from the south depending on which side of their car has the gas tank.

I would like to see some sort of a barrier to prevent a child from running out into Broadway. During the winter months a child is not so apt to leave their car. So this is a good time to address the issue and get something done before an accident occurs. Granted there are other areas of concern. I’m just using Simonson’s as an example.

Smaller towns have an ideal situation. There is a median between the north and south or east and west lanes. Also there is some space between a sidewalk and a business.

I’m not suggesting to dig up Broadway again. The above idea might be considered for future planning.
