Is this not treason?

On July 16th 2018, the President of the United States stood next to the lying murderous thug Russian president Vladimir Putin and took his side over our own country after 12 Russian operatives were indicted last week by American officials for illegal activities intended to help Donald Trump win the presidency in 2016.
I just have two questions: 1, is this not giving aid and comfort to the enemy which by definition is treason, and 2, how can any patriotic American defend this abominable behavior?
