Whose pockets are going to be lined this time?

Nancy Bommelman

Minot

So the city manager wants to increase taxes again! Good Grief!! When is that going to stop? The way to NOT increase taxes for one is to redo the budget.

When driving around Minot I see six men standing talking over a hole and one in the ground. Why do we need six people standing there. I know a citizen of Minot that video taped men working outside his house, they were laughing and joking and for a good 45 minutes without doing anything. You see that all over the city.

The citizens of Minot know people that work for the city. Believe me the employees talk. A few weeks ago a man wrote into the paper and said he talked to an employee of the landfill. I’ve talked to people who work for the city and they are NOT happy, if they come forward they are afraid of retaliation. These people are just as frustrated as the other employees and citizens of Minot. WE ARE SICK TO DEATH OF PAYING HIGH TAXES. Whose pockets are going to be lined this time? The BIG BOYS CLUB that’s who. Don’t tell me that doesn’t exist either, we all know it does.

Why do you think all the big contracts go to the big companies? Somebody that is higher up in the city knows somebody with a company that wants the job. The little guys who are struggling with their business won’t get it. It’s who you know in this town and who you get in bed with.

Every department in the city can be lowered. In the department of snow removal. I know people who have gotten their vehicles hit from the plows of the city. So they had to pay for the vehicle, the drug test when the operator hit them, plus their hourly wage. Instead of giving them all this overtime, hire another person from a different department and have them plow the roads as well.

All this overtime is time and a half. So if they are working 65 hours a week, take 20 of those hours and give to somebody else. This isn’t brain surgery, it’s easy to figure out. I have talked to people that work this department, THEY ARE TIRED. If they are tired while they are working and run into a vehicle there is more damage done than just money wise. Their health is effected as well.

So if our taxes go up this next year is the Manager going to ask for another tax the following year? I’ll leave this letter letting the citizens of Minot think.
