Yield for emergencies

Richard Weinmann, Harvey

To the citizens of Minot:

I am writing about the car accident of Officer Roe and the other car. She was heading to an emergency with the lights going and siren on when she got in the accident.

I have been driving 55-plus years and was always told to yield to flashing lights and sirens, to pull over to the right of the road or stop and give them the right of way, not saying the police officer is wrong, or does it depend on if the other driver is a big shot, or have the laws of the road changed that I don’t need to watch for lights and listen for sirens? I missed that change in the law in the North Dakota Legislature.
