Shame on fair board

Christ Schatz, Bergen

I have been reading all along the articles and issues between the North Dakota State Fair and the Ward County Historical Society and now the State Fair has sued the Historical Society to move off the property. I can honestly say, shame on you manager and members of the North Dakota State Fair Board.

Many of us “old timers” have lived in this community all our lives and have supported this community and the desire to keep the “heritage” of our community alive for generations to come. Obviously, that is not what many of the folks, including Renee Korslein and the North Dakota State Fair Board, have in mind and they should be ashamed of themselves. Keep in mind that many members of the North Dakota State Fair Board are from other communities than Minot so why would they care about our local heritage?

The Historical Society has been around since the 1950s and with the help of people like Rodney Arnold’s grandfather, Joseph Stoa, and countless others, they have donated time, money and property to save the heritage of this part of the country for many to enjoy.

Progress is one thing but what does the North Dakota State Fair want to do … throw the Ward County Historical Society out to the dump with all the other old stuff? Sounds like a bunch of bullies to me with a board dictating to an attorney what they want done.
