Harold Wobbema, 92, Velva, formerly of Minot, died Friday, November 7, 2025 in a Velva care center.

Harold was born October 23, 1933, in Carrington, ND to Pete and Sophie (Zuling) Wobbema. He attended country school like most of his era and completed his life education on the farm, working for his family and area neighbors.

Harold married Jeanette Walz on March 30, 1952 in New Rockford, ND. They made their home in New Rockford and Carrington while he was working for area farmers. They moved to Ray in September of 1959.

Harold became an operator/owner and partner in S&H Construction, Inc. in 1968. They specialized in grain elevator repair. They moved the business to Velva in 1977 assuming sole ownership of the business in 1978. He operated the business with the help of his entire family until semi-retiring in 1998. Harold’s sons continued to operate S&H Construction for a total of 54 years in business. They moved to Minot in 1997.

Harold was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and woodworking. Summers allowed time in the garden growing vegetables and flowers. They enjoyed many years at their cabin on Strawberry Lake as a family. Harold will be remembered for his love of visiting with anyone and everyone, traveling, auctions and trips to the casino.

Harold is survived by his daughters, Terry Owens, Lino Lakes, MN and Diana (Curtis) Nelson, Velva, ND; sons, Richard (Tina) Wobbema and Timothy Wobbema, both of Velva, ND and Dale Wobbema, Minot, ND; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeanette, son Harold Jr., son-in-law Leslie Owens, sisters Margaret, Pearl, Nellie, Mildred, Ann, Helen, Susie, Jennie and Emma and brothers, Henry, John, and Peter.

Interment: Carrington Cemetery, Carrington, ND

Visitation: Friday, November 14, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Velva Ambulance.
