Sandra Fisher

April 7, 1943 – Aug. 4, 2022

MOHALL – Sandra Lynn

(Asheim) Fisher, 79,

Bismarck, formerly of

Mohall, died Thursday,

Aug. 4, 2022, at a

Bismarck hospital.

For a life well lived, we

give thanks and praise to

God, our Father, and to

Jesus Christ, His Son. On

April 7, 1943, in Minot,

Sandy was born to Palmer

“Speed” and Hazel (El-

dred) Asheim. She grew

up to be among Mohall’s

finest in many, many

ways: devoted daughter,

precious wife, loving

mother, affectionate

grandmother and gracious

in every way. In school,

she knew every student in

every grade by name. She

participated in Band,

Chorus, Science Club,

Drama Club, Student

Council as well as Cheer-

leading and Annual Staff.

She was well liked by all

as witnessed by being

elected Homecoming

Queen in 1961. As a tum-

bler, she performed at

many basketball games

whether she was cheer-

leader or tumbler.

She went to the Univer-

sity of Minnesota where

she joined the tumbling

team and continued to

perform at Big Ten half-

time shows. It was in her

first year at college that

she was diagnosed with

Type I diabetes which led

to a lifetime of multiple

health issues. Even with

those health complica-

tions, her first words to an

old friend would be “And

how are you?” She did not

focus on herself.

Being a nurse was her

passion from the time she

was a grade school stu-

dent. Voted Most Likely to

Succeed in her graduating

class, she went on to get

her BS Degree in Nursing

from UND where she was

also a nursing instructor

for a year. At UND, she

was also an active

member of Delta Gamma

Sorority.

In 1965, she married

her longtime boyfriend

and high school sweet-

heart, Jerry Fisher. After

Jerry’s graduation, they

settled in the Twin Cities.

Jodi Lynn was their first-

born and Amy Dawn

came along three years

later. In 1975, they re-

turned to North Dakota

with her husband where

she continued her nursing

career. She became active

in church, community

and school activities in-

cluding PTA, book fairs,

Bible studies, Homemak-

ers, Park Board and other

social clubs.

Traditions with family

and friends came to mean

more and more to her as

the years passed by. The

many gatherings at Clear

Lake, Manitoba, have

been a tradition since her

early childhood. The mul-

tiple trips around the

country have created pre-

cious memories for all of

us. She was not one to

keep a diary but if she

did, the diary would be

filled with precious

memories too many to

enumerate. She also loved

to read and will forever be

known for her delicious

red cake.

Family: her husband,

Jerry Fisher, Bismarck;

daughters, Jodi Pautzke,

Elk River, Minn., Amy

(Mark) Graves, Dickinson;

grandchildren, Damon

(Courtney) Pautzke, Tay-

lor Pautzke, Trevor

Pautzke; Hailey Graves;

Ian Graves; sister, Barb

(Gene) Glessing, Mohall;

niece, Katie (Brock)

Laskowski with Elli and

Henry; nephew, Paul

(Emma) Glessing with

Kayla; and many beloved

cousins.

She was preceded in

death by her father, Pal-

mer “Speed” Asheim;

mother, Hazel (Eldred)

Asheim; and son-in-law,

Jeff Pautzke.
