Leo D. Keelan

Leo D. Keelan, 77,

Minot, ND, passed away

Monday, May 16, 2022, at

a Minot hospital.

Leo Day Keelan was

born July 11, 1944, the

son of Leo Floyd and

Elouise (Day) Keelan, in

Joplin, Missouri. Leo gra-

duated high school in

Trenton, Michigan in the

class of 1962.

Leo enlisted in the Un-

ited States Air Force on

April 15, 1964. He proud-

ly served his country

while being stationed in

Germany and at the Minot

Air Force Base. He was

honorably discharged on

May 14, 1968.

While serving at the

Minot Air Force Base he

met Janice Edwards. They

were united in marriage

on April 22, 1972. Leo be-

gan working for the Minot

Police Department (MPD)

following his discharge.

During his time with the

MPD Leo served as a

detective, a sergeant, and

had the first police canine

in Minot, Sir. He proudly

served with the MPD be-

fore retiring after 36 years.

After his retirement Leo

began working security at

the Ward County Court

House.

Leo enjoyed working

with the community. He

served on the board of the

Humane Society, volun-

teered at the Minot Zoo,

was a Boy Scout Leader

and Camp Ranger, and a

loyal member of the VA.

His loving family in-

cludes: wife of 50 years,

Janice; children, Robbie

Keelan, Minot, Jennifer

(Eudocio) Garcia, Austin,

TX, Leo Edward Keelan,

Newburg, OR; grandchil-

dren, Skylar Keelan,

McKayla Keelan, Leo

Quam Keelan; brother,

Thomas Keelan, Ocean-

side, CA; sister, Kathy

(Joel) Slater, Stow, OH,

and numerous nieces,

nephews. Leo was preced-

ed in death by his parents.

Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at

the Minot VFW from 4:00

to 8 p.m..
