Curtis Leatherbury, 59,
Minot, formerly of Clarks-
ton, WA, passed away on
Saturday, September 11,
2021 at a Minot hospital.
Curtis was born on De-
cember 24, 1961 in Gar-
den City, KS to Darrell
and Marilee (Whittington)
Leatherbury. When Curtis
was young, the family
moved to the Clarkston,
WA area. He attended
school in Clarkston, gra-
duating from Clarkston
High School in 1980.
After graduation, Curtis
joined the U.S. Air Force,
where he was stationed at
Langley and Tyndall be-
fore being assigned to the
Minot Air Force Base. He
proudly served his coun-
try for 21 ¢ years before
retiring. After retiring
from the Air Force, Curtis
began his second career
working in the warehouse
department of Target in
Minot.
On December 28, 1985,
Curtis was united in mar-
riage to Darlene Sweet in
Hampton, VA. From this
union came two sons,
Curtis Jr. and Andrew.
Curtis loved to watch
football and was a devot-
ed Seattle Seahawks fan.
He loved listening to
music, especially Billy
Joel, and playing piano.
Curtis enjoyed watching,
and quoting, Star Trek
and M*A*S*H, playing
cards and golfing. He
loved spending time with
his grandchildren and his
dog, Beau. He was a form-
er member of the Liberty
Baptist Church in Hamp-
ton, VA.
Curtis is survived by
his wife, Darlene, Minot;
parents, Darrell and
Marilee Leatherbury,
Clarkston, WA; sons,
Curtis Jr. (Christine
Davenport) and Andrew
(Samantha “Sammy”)
Leatherbury, both of
Minot; siblings, Steve
(Lisa) Leatherbury and
Vicki (Steve) Frei, both of
Clarkston, WA; and
numerous other extended
family and friends.
He was preceded in
death by his grandparents
and his mother and
father-in-law, Charles and
Joyce Sweet; and a
nephew, Justin Frei.
Funeral services will be
held on Wednesday, Sep-
tember 29, 2021 at 11 a.m.
at the Thompson-Larson
Funeral Home Chapel in
Minot, ND. The service
will be livestreamed for
the public to view and

Burial will follow at
Rosehill Memorial Park in
