Renee Fossen
Jan. 29, 1965-May 11, 2021
Renee Fossen, 56,
Minot, died Tuesday, May
11, 2021 in her home.
Renee was born January
29, 1965 in Minot, ND to
Ronald and Patricia
(Prescott) Lorntson. She
called the Magic City
home during her youth.
Renee was united in
marriage to John Fossen
on February 27, 1981 in
Minot. They traveled with
John’s work as a seismo-
grapher for the next seven
years throughout the Un-
ited States from coast to
coast and as far south as
Texas.
They were blessed with
the birth of their only son
Travis in 1986. The
moved from Deadwood,
SD back to her hometown
of Minot later that year.
In addition to caring for
her own son and parents,
Renee worked extensively
in the community of
Minot as a home health
caregiver the remainder of
her life. Her clients al-
ways became friends and
often she was asked to
care additional family
members in need of help
with their personal care
and their home. People
loved Renee for her caring
nature and selfless
demeanor. The inability
to say ‘no’ and put others
before herself is a legacy
that we will forever treas-
ure as a family.
Renee enjoyed the out-
doors and was often
found with a fishing pole
or a book in her hand.
Needlepoint projects
while on the road with
her husband and later gar-
dening and DIY projects
with her son Travis were
big parts of her daily life.
She will be deeply missed
by all who were blessed to
share in her life.
Renee is survived by
her loving husband of 40
years, John Fossen, Minot;
son Travis Fossen, Minot;
sisters Brenda St. Claire,
Ogilvie, MN and Theresa
Marten, Minot; brother
Daniel St. Claire, Gackle,
ND along with numerous
nieces and nephews.
Renee was preceded in
death by her grandparents
Henry ‘Hank’ and Mila
‘Dolly’ Lorntson and
Evelyn and Clifford
Prescott and parents
Ronald and Patricia Lornt-
son.
