Ingvald Odland
Jan. 4, 1926-April 14, 2021
Ingvald Odland, 95,
Velva, passed away on
Wednesday, April 14,
2021 in a Garrison hospi-
tal.
Ingvald was born on
January 4, 1926 to John
and Otilie Odland, who
had both emigrated from
Norway. He was raised
and lived on the family
farm north of Velva.
Ingvald attended country
elementary schools and
graduated from Velva
High School in 1942. He
attended UND for one
year. In 1943 he returned
home to farm because his
dad was ill.
On May 22, 1947,
Ingvald married Olga Lov-
ro at Bethany Lutheran
Church in Minot. He and
Olga farmed and raised
three children on the
farmstead where he had
grown up. They
remained on the farm un-
til 1999 when they moved
to their home north of
Velva. Olga died on Oc-
tober 21, 2018.
Ingvald loved farm life
and had a gift for repair-
ing almost anything. He
liked to read and do cross-
word puzzles. He enjoyed
spending time with his
children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren.
He most recently attended
First Baptist Church and
had good friends in the
Care Group and XYZ.
He was a loving hus-
band to Olga, and his ded-
ication as a caregiver dur-
ing her last years was an
inspiration to us all.
