Arnold Semchenko, 86,
Minot and formerly of
Max, died peacefully on
Wednesday, April 7, 2021
in a Minot healthcare
center following a lengthy
battle with cancer and
with his family at his side.
Arnold Daniel Sem-
chenko was born on Sep-
tember 25, 1934 in Max,
ND to Matt and Stacia
(Bovkoon) Semchenko.
He was raised and educat-ed in Max and graduated
from Max High School in
1952 where he was active
in sports, especially
basketball. He continued
his education at the North
Dakota State School of
Science in Wahpeton for
one year prior to return-
ing to the farm where he
assisted his family with
farming.
Arnold married Margie
Wenger on March 23,
1954, in Washburn, ND.
They made their home on
a farm near Max prior to
moving to Minot in 1962.
Arnold drove truck for
Farmers Union Federated
for 10 years, Peavey Com-
pany for ten years and
GTA Feed and Seed for
fifteen years and for other
businesses on a part-time
basis prior to retiring in
1996. Margie died on Oc-
tober 18, 2009. Arnold
had continued to reside in
Minot most recently with
his special friend Carolyn
Stair for the past eleven
years.
Arnold was a member
of Bethany Lutheran
Church, Moose Lodge and
Teamsters Union. He was
an active volunteer at the
Moose Lodge and at Theo-
dore Roosevelt National
Park in Medora for many
years. He especially en-
joyed gardening, traveling
(especially cruises and
motor coach tours), hunt-
ing, fishing, horseshoes
and billiards.
Arnold’s loving family
includes: his special
friend and companion:
Carolyn Stair; children:
Jody (Robin) Hendrickson
of Bismarck and Brian
(Kathy) Semchenko of
Milo, Missouri; grand-
daughter: Lena (Ryan)
Roberts of Eureka, MO
and great-grandson: Ryker
Roberts; sister-in-law: Rita
Semchenko of Max and
several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Arnold was preceded in
death by: his parents,
wife and siblings: Lor-
raine Adler, Alvin Sem-
chenko, Richard Sem-
chenko and Doris (Al)
Hochsprung.

Wednesday, April 14,
2021 at 11:00 a.m. in
Bethany Lutheran Church
– Minot. Facial coverings
are required, and social
distancing guidelines will
be followed.
