James A. Ellison, 85,

Velva, ND, passed away

Monday, February 22,

2021, at Souris Valley

Care Center, Velva, ND.

Jim was born June 20,

1935, the son of Erick and

Alma (Haga) Ellison, in

Voltaire, ND. He was

raised and educated in

Bergen.

Jim enlisted in the Unit-

ed States Army on Febru-

ary 8, 1954. He proudly

served his country during

the Korean Conflict. He

was stationed at Hanford,

Washington, He was

honorably discharged

February 10, 1956.

Jim married Irene

Christensen on April 7,

1956 in Pasco, Washing-

ton, and made their home

there. They moved back

to Velva, 1958, where he

worked for local contrac-

tors until he and his

brother Ivan went into

business together as Ellis-

on Builders in 1977,

working around the Velva

and Minot area. Jim sold

the business to Ivan in

1993.

He was a member of

Oak Valley Lutheran

Church, Velva, the Minot

Gun Club, and the Velva

American Legion,

His loving family in-

cludes: wife of 65 years,

Irene Ellison, Velva, ND;

children, Marilynn (Ken-

ny) Klein, Minot, Jami

(Ron) Brossart, Bergen, Ju-

lie (James) Anderson, Vel-

va; grandchildren, Joshua

(Samantha) Klein, Adrian

and Lucas Klein, Brandon

(Lindsey) Brossart, Micha-

el (Jamie) Brossart, Alaina

and David Anderson;

great-grandchildren, Jade,

Kimber, Layla, Barrett;

brother-in-law, Burdette

Kittelson; and numerous

nieces, nephews and

cousins

Jim was preceded in

death by: his parents; Er-

ick and Alma (Haga) Ellis-

on; sisters, Doris Kittel-

son, Lorraine (Jerry)

McDowell and Elaine

(Norman) Olson, Helen

and Jeanette and brother,

Ivan (Myrna) Ellison.

Visitation will be on

Thursday, February 25,

2021 from 4:00 pm to 6:00

pm at Thompson-Larson
