John “Jack” Doering

John “Jack” Doering, 83,
Minot, formerly of Goo-
drich, ND, died Saturday,
November 28, 2020 in a
Minot Hospital.
Jack was born De-
cember 19, 1936, at
Bismarck, ND, the son of
Richard and Anita (Mar-
tin) Doering. He was
raised at Goodrich and as-
sisted with the family
business, Doering’s Super
Value in Goodrich during
his younger years. He gra-
duated from Goodrich
High School in 1955. Jack
entered active duty ser-
vice with the US Army,
honorably serving his
country following the
Korean Conflict from 1957
until 1958.
He returned to North
Dakota, where he contin-
ued his education, receiv-ing a degree in Business
from Valley City State
College in 1962. He later
received a Master’s degree
in Business from the
University of North Dako-
ta.
Jack was united in mar-
riage to Rita Gisi on Au-
gust 9, 1968 at Grand
Forks. Along with raising
their two children, he was
employed as a Professor
in the Business Depart-
ment at Mankato State
College for two years and
then at Minot State Col-
lege. He spent time as a
Professor at Wahpeton
State School of Science
from 1974-1979 and re-
turned to Minot State
University from 1979 un-
til 2000, when he partially
retired. He returned to
teach at Minot High
School as a substitute
teacher and at Minot State
in the Business depart-
ment part time. He fully
retired in 2010.
In 1984, Jack rededicat-ed his life to the Lord.
This decision made a sig-
nificant impact on the
Doering family, leading
them to First Assembly of
God Church in Minot,
where Jack was an active
member until his death.
Jack enjoyed spending
time with his family and
friends and always loved
the outdoors. He contin-
ued to hunt, fish and golf
until the time of his
death. Jack was an avid
supporter of his Minot
State family and Minot
State athletics. He had a
love for his Minot State
students, many of whom
he’d see in the communi-
ty. He also was a member
of the Goodrich American
Legion Post.
Jack’s loving family in-
cludes: wife of 52 years,
Rita; children, Jenny (Jim)
Beske, Waxahachie, TX,
and Scott (Sara) Doering,
Minot; grandchildren to
include: Brooke (Jaden)
Wirrenga, Joseph Beske
and his fiance, Danielle
Peterson, Abraham Beske,
Charlie (Tori) Beske,
Amanda (Justin) Raymond
and their son, Jack; Alyssa
Doering, Megan (Jayden)
Wetzel, Miya Doering,
Jack Doering, Drake Doer-
ing, Aria Doering; sister,
Patricia “Pat” Carpenter,
Palestine, TX and twin
brother, James (Kathy)
Doering, Arlington
Heights, IL; several
nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Jack was preceded in
death by: his parents; sis-
ters, Marilyn Doering and
Katherine “Kay” Mellom
and brother, Richard
Doering.
Family Celebration of
Life service: Friday, De-
cember 4, 2020 at 1:30
p.m. in First Assembly of
God, Minot.
