Shirley Richter

May 4, 1945-Nov. 20, 2020

Shirley Richter, 75,

Minot, died Friday, No-

vember 20, 2020 in her

home, following a lengthy

illness, with her family at

her bedside.

Shirley Bernice Leintz

was born on May 4, 1945,

a daughter of Nicholas

and Lena (Wack) Leintz in

Harvey, ND. She grew up

on the family farm, at-

tending rural schools in

Wellsburg, ND. Following

the death of her father,

the family moved to Selz,

ND. Shirley graduated

from Notre Dame in Wil-

low City, ND. Following

her graduation, she was

employed at the Harvey

Hospital.

In April of 1964,

Shirley was united in

marriage to Robert J.

Richter. They made their

home in Minot, where

Shirley was a homemaker,

raising the couple’s chil-

dren. When illness struck,

Shirley was a caregiver to

their son Robert “Bobby. ”

Following Roberts pass-

ing, Shirley worked at

Sunnyside Elementary

School in the hot lunch

program for 18 years, re-

tiring for health reasons.

Shirley enjoyed spend-

ing time with her hus-

band, daughters and

grandchildren. She loved

to bake, and make Christ-

mas goodie trays to give to

people. Shirley was sup-

portive of Bob’s activities

in the Knights of

Columbus. Shirley always

had a big smile on her

face and will be deeply

missed by all the knew

her.

She is survived by:

Husband of 55 years

Robert;

daughters: Laurie

Richter, Kristi (Ryan)

Schepp;

Two grandchildren:

Brody Schepp and Mallo-

ry Schepp;

Siblings: Joyce (Paul)

Miller, Judith (Frank)

Westman, Donna (Gary)

Oliver, Susan (Lyle) Zim-

bleman; a special care-

giver Marlene Chell;

several aunts, uncles,

nieces and nephews also

survive.

Shirley was preceded in

death by her parents, son

Robert A. Richter, grand-

son Steven Broadbent,

step-father Lee Wein-

mann, along with her

maternal and paternal

grandparents.

Our family would like

years of friendship and

health/hospice care givers

for the loving care given

to our mother.
