Gerald M. Mahoney, 85,
Minot, ND, passed away
Thursday, November 12,
2020, at Trinity Hospital
in Minot.
Gerald Marlin Maho-
ney, son of Bernard J.
Mahoney Sr. and Lila
(Knudtson) Mahoney was
born on January 24th,
1935. He was raised in
Ryder, ND and graduated
from Ryder High School.
After graduation he enlist-ed in the US Navy and
was stationed in SC.
Upon his discharge from
the Navy he started work-
ing with the US Postal
Service in SC and within
a short time accepted a
transfer back to ND. He
made his home in Garris-
on for a short time and
then later in Minot. He
retired from the Post Of-
fice in 1990 after 30 years
of service. At retirement
he held the position of
Branch Manager of the
Minot Air Force Base Post
Office. He was very ac-
tive in the Postal Union
and was President of the
local union. He was a
member of the Moose
Lodge. He was especially
proud of his membership
in the American Legion
Post 26 for which he
served as a Post Com-
mander in 1982 & 1983.
He was elected into the
Past Commanders Club as
President 2001-2005. He
also served for many
years on the Legion Color
Guard. He was very proud
to serve in this roll, as he
said it allowed him to give
his fellow veterans the
honor they deserved.
Gerald loved to play pool
and was on a pool league
for many years as well as
play cards with his
friends. He loved to fish
and hunt. He was a great
dancer in his younger
years and looked forward
to the weekends to spend
time with friends. Gerald
was a strong-willed man
with high expectations of
himself and others but his
family was most impor-
tant to him and he loved
deeply.
Gerald is survived by:

Minot; children, Sherry
Mahoney-Irvin, Charles-
ton, SC, Susan
Mahoney-Schmidt
(Gordy), Sawyer, ND, and
Michael (Tammie)
Mahoney, rural Minot;
step-children, Ticia
Kuglin, Grand Forks, Troy
Kuglin, rural Minot, Stacy
Kuglin, Grand Forks; six
grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and
many step-grandchildren;
and step great- grandchil-
dren; sisters, Rosella
Weber, Vinona (Cliff)
Rime, Patsy Trueblood,
Judy (Joe) Senger, Ilene
McFarlen, and Crystal
(Glen) Eslinger; and
numerous nieces and
nephews.
Gerald was preceded in
death by: his father and
mother, Bernard Sr., and
Lila Mahoney; sister
Cecilia Mahnke; brother,
Bernard Jr.; infant sister,
Mary and son, Patrick
Neal; father-in-law and
mother-in-law, LaVere
and Gladys Anderson;
brother-in-law, Daren
Anderson; step daughter-
in-law, Renata Lucier;
step great-granddaughter,
Kayla Mock.

of Christian Burial by in-
vitation will be held:
Wednesday, November
18, 2020, at 10:00 am at
St. Leo the Great Catholic
Church in Minot. Those
attending are required to
wear masks and social
distance.
Interment: Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot,
ND.
Visitation: Tuesday
from 4 to 6 p.m. at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot.
