Ardien Tandberg

Ardien Tandberg, 84,
Minot, formerly of Deer-
ing, ND, died Wednesday,
November 25, 2020 in his
home.
Ardien was born on De-
cember 23, 1935, a son of
John and Gladys (Stutrud)
Tandberg in Three Forks,
MT. He was raised in
Newburg and Watford
City and educated in the
Deering area where he
graduated from Deering
High School in 1954. He
furthered his education by
attending Minot State
University and held vari-
ous jobs while beginning
his farming career with
his father.
On July 17, 1965, Ar-
dien was united in mar-
riage to Carolyn Leitzke in
Glenburn, ND. They made
their home on the former
John Hagen farm, where
together they raised their
family of three daughters,
Lisa, Laurel and Lynda,
and farmed. Ardien also
proudly owned and
farmed Thursby Butte
Northeast of Deering,
which had rich history,
and was also the
namesake of the Deering
School District.
Ardien was a board
member of Deering Farm-
ers Elevator, Deering
Township and for 12
years served on the Deer-
ing School board. He
spent over 20 years on the
Soil Conservation boards
for North McHenry Coun-
ty and was on the Deering
Volunteer Fire Dept. Ar-
dien earned the soil con-
servation achievement
award for North McHenry
County in November
1983.
He was a member of the
Eagles Lodge, Moose
Lodge and Charter
member of the Lions Club
of Glenburn, ND. Ardien
was a lifelong member of
Deering Lutheran Church,
where he served on the
church council and of the
Deering Senior Citizens.
Ardien loved to follow
NASCAR, specifically
Jimmie Johnson #48. He
enjoyed working cross-
word puzzles, doing jig-
saw puzzles and shooting
pool.
Ardien is survived by:
Wife of 55 years, Caro-
lyn, Minot; daughters,
Lisa Tandberg, Mission,
KS, Laurel (Jeff) Lawson,
Berthold, ND and Lynda
(Roger) Opp, Deering, ND;
grandchildren, John
Michael (Andrena), Maria
(Justin), Linda, Jennifer
(Jordan), Kathryn (Matt),
Landon, Brady (Shelbi),
Carson (Juliette), Mikayla,
Lucas (Mikaylee), Taylor
(Jade), Ethan (Taylor); 13
great-grandchildren; sis-
ter, Gloria Olson,
Bismarck, ND; and several
nieces, nephews and
cousins also survive. Our
family would like to ex-
press out heartfelt appre-
ciation to Jim Davenport,
for his loyal friendship
with Dad.
Ardien was preceded in
death by: his parents,
John and Gladys, mother
and father-in-law, Alvin
and Annie Leitzke,
brothers-in-law, Milton
Olson, Duane Leitzke,
Harold Sauer and Richard
Sauer.

which combats the pro-
gression of Parkinson’s
disease or Deering Luth-
eran Church.

vember 30, 2020 from
2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot. All lo-
cal state and CDC health
guidelines will be fol-
lowed.

1, 2020 at 1:30 pm at
Bethany Lutheran
Church, Minot. All local
state and CDC guidelines
will be followed.

ing, ND
